mullethut MorganEve, Thank you for releasing this album it is such an amazing piece. When David was talking about how beautiful you are it makes me think about my relationship and how star-struck I am by my significant other. Your performance of Jackson is by far one of my favorite, I grew up listening to Johnny Cash and June Carter. It was quite a surprise to hear it. Favorite track: Jackson.

yeahexactly Thank you so much for sharing this show with us.
The closest I’ve ever gotten to seeing you live is taking a deep dive into your YouTube videos.

I love the little changes in the live album as opposed to the studio stuff.
Little timing changes etc that just make the music more interesting and entertaining.
Thank you again.
It’s good to hear your voices together <3
Much love.

    April 5, 2022-
Every year it’s the same. The snow begins to melt, the peepers begin to peep, and as the world around me bursts forth in the rebirth and joy of Spring, I alone skulk into the shadows, filled with trepidation and wishing to hang back in the snowbanks of winter.
Spring means April is nigh, and April– once a month of birthdays and blooming trees– now brings with it personal darkness and challenge. On my 28th birthday, now so many Aprils ago, a friend wrote me a list, which I tacked on my wall:

“Rules for this Birthday of Angels and Demons”

It had been 8 days since Dave had slipped away. A birthday celebration felt alien, unwanted and stupid. But she instructed me to sing, dance, laugh and cry. So I did.

Today marks 8 years. For 8 years, April 5th has Gollum’d forward, stalking me from behind Mordorian rocks and whispering dark riddles into my ear. Each year after it’s gone, I feel no relief, only the passing of Time in a way my younger self never anticipated.

In another 8 days my most dreaded birthday will arrive: I’ll have lived a year longer than he did.
Death is painful. But if there’s one thing the Springtime is good for, it’s to remind us of the eternal circle– that after death there is birth– that our lives truly do intertwine in universal life– a great mandala we can only see if we choose to.

I decided years ago that I would observe April 5th in the garden, tending newly thawed earth and moving leaves for new growth to emerge through.

This year, I am honoring April 5th with the fruit of a different labor: the release of Brown Bird Live from Newport.

This is our 2011 performance in full.
